- The Clothes Care Research Center (CCRC) is an alliance of leading
corporations and university researchers dedicated to improving clothing
care in the home.
- CCRC's five corporate members represent every phase of home clothing
care: Cotton Incorporated, GE Consumer & Industrial, Milliken & Company,
Procter & Gamble, and VF Corporation.
- The University of Kentucky's Textile Testing Laboratory and
Northwestern University's McCormick School of Engineering & Applied
Science are the research members of CCRC. The universities provide
unbiased expertise to conduct and analyze CCRC experiments.
- CCRC conducts research on emerging technologies to create solutions
for consumers that extend the life of their garments and save time and
money on cleaning and maintenance.
- CCRC shares its findings with textile technical associations for the
benefit of the entire industry.
- CCRC members realize their own benefits from both CCRC's own research,
as well as the data that is shared in the planning and execution of each
study.
- A board of directors representing each member company governs CCRC
and determines the direction for research projects. The board meets
about three times annually.
- A standing committee of technical representatives from each member
company designs the experiments with assistance from the two
universities.
- The University of Kentucky's Textile Testing Laboratory conducts the
experiments.
- Northwestern University's McCormick School of Engineering & Applied
Science assists the technical committee in designing the testing
protocols for experiments, and then analyzes the results from the
University of Kentucky.
- CCRC members are committed to at least two more years of semi-annual
research studies.
